Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha series

Synopsis: Yuuno Scrya is a mage from a distant planet working to fix the problem he started when Jewel Seeds were accidentally spread around the world. In a failed attempt to seal a seed properly, he winds up on Earth in the form of a ferret. However, his battle with the seeds did not end upon reaching the Earth and he needs somebody else’s help to seal the seeds for him. Takamachi Nanoha hears his telepathic cries for help and comes to his rescue. When she is given a pearl known as the Raging Heart she is able to transform into Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and wield a staff to fend off the evil that lies within the Seeds. In order to help Yuuno complete his mission, she needs to seal all 21 Jewel Seeds away, but Fate may be playing a hand in the matter to prevent Nanoha’s goals. -Source: ANN

There are definitely better series out there, and although Nanoha doesn’t make my top ten lists, it does make a favourite. I can’t believe I’ve delayed downloading and watching it for the longest time. To have made two sequels and an upcoming movie means that this series is a must-watch for Nana, Yukarin, and Kana fans. I’ve put off this entry for a while now, and I haven’t updated in a long time because of it, so here it is!

Warning, image heavy.

Kannazuki no Miko

Synopsis: Kannazuki no Miko is the story of Himeko and Chikane, the reincarnations of the Solar and Lunar Miko, respectively. They are two high school girls going to the prestigious Ototachibana Academy of Mahoroba, Japan. When an ancient evil rises once more, the girls are plunged into destiny as their long-sealed personas awaken to defend the world against the Orochi. The Miko must awaken Ame no Murakumo in order to combat the threat while Sōma, the Orochi turned protector, repels the Orochi efforts to kill them. -Source: Wikipedia

Finally, a good yuri series since Simoun. I’m quite surprised as to how this turned out. I wasn’t expecting much after reading the synopsis by ANN. It seemed uneventful, but I needed my yuri dosage that I’ve been lacking since watching the great Simoun almost a year ago. (*^_^*)

Ikki DD, KimiAru

Synopsis: Loosely based on the novel ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’, modern day Japan sees a similar struggle for power between different rival schools with the three strongest being; Kyosho Academy led by Sousou Moutoku, Nanyo Academy by Sonsaku Hakufu and Ryuubi Gentoku from Seito High School. Together these three tousei, each with their own mangatama, fight for the honour of becoming ikki tousen and fulfilling their fated destiny through battle and conquest. -Source: ANN

Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny is the sequel to Ikkitousen if you haven’t noticed. The art was much better than the first season, which is a given, as normally art improves with each sequel. Then again, it was a different studio (ARMS) that did Ikki DD, rather than J.C. Staff, who did the first Ikki season.

Ikkitousen

Filed under: anime, deviantART — Tags: — staappy @ 4:00 pm

Synopsis: Seven schools in the district of Kanto are constantly ‘at war’ with each other, and the students within – both male and female – have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels, called magatama, that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period (the Three Kingdoms period of China). One girl, Sonsaku Hakufu, has recently moved to Japan and is apparently destined to unite the schools as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. But, like all heroes, there is a darker side to her fate, and as always there is a constant struggle by those around her to break the chains of their own destinies and make their own lives. -Source: ANN

Before I begin, I would like to say that this is NOT a review. It’s just a NTS about the Ikkitousen series.

Murder Princess (OVA)

Synopsis: In the land of Foreland a coup d’état has occurred and the princess, after witnessing the death of the King, is on the run. She meets with battle-hungry bounty hunter Falis, and with a twist of fate they both switch souls, making Alita the maid of the now princess Falis. Named for her bravery in confronting the enemy as ‘Murder Princess’, Falis must continue to be the princess as well as confronting any new opponent that comes to her way. -Source ANN

I first picked up Murder Princess after browsing around AAN and Wiki seiyuu profiles. After my recent Fullmetal Alchemist phase, I wanted to watch more stuff from Paku Romi, aside from Kaiba and Ultraviolet: Code 044, which hasn’t finished subbing yet. I watched the first ep, and although it wasn’t much, I really loved to hear Romi’s voice, and Koshimizu Ami’s. (I still can’t see the seiyuu connection between Paraietta (Simoun), Horo (Wolf and Spice), and now Mirano/Arita-hime.)

When I heard Toyoguchi Megumi’s voice in the first ep, my heart fluttered and went, “OMG it’s an FMA recast with Ami instead of KugiRie!” The voice she used to play Seshiria had such a Revy tone to it, I had to keep watching. I thought, “Hey, since it’s only six episodes long, might as well watch it.” And I’m glad I did.

ARIA is officially over…

Filed under: anime, miscellaneous, seiyuu — Tags: , — staappy @ 10:16 pm

And I’m quite sad about it.
ARIA has got to be one of the most inspirational anime series I’ve seen…
Even tho I’ve watched only a handful, it’s a slice of life anime that hits it right home to the heart.
The manga has officially been licensed by Tokyopop, as well as the box set for North American release.

The last few eps were extremely heartbreaking — I can’t believe it’s over. :(
They may be animated characters on pixels, but I felt the strong wave of emotion brought upon by Ohara Sayaka’s character, Alica Florence. Snow White is, indeed, Snow White.

I guess I have nothing more to say, but seeing as OtaAgg hasn’t finished watching the series yet, I won’t spoil anything (EVEN THO SHE WATCHED THE RAWS TILL THE END). And she said she might type up a lil’ something about ARIA, so I’ll wait for that. :)

Maria-sama ga Miteru

…now that it’s over, I don’t know what else to watch. :'(
It was such a good series. And Mamiko Noto was THE PERFECT seiyuu for Toudou Shimako.
It totally fits her, as a character AND as a real person!!! XD

Too bad it’s over. I would love to know what happens afterwards.
It wasn’t a really complete ending. OH WAIT, THERE’S A SEASON 4.
HAHA! More Marimite love en bouton, Toudou Shimako.

Arigatou, OtaAgg-oneesan for the picture. ^^
Mind you, I only put this one up because it was your unedited, nasty Tsutako-green colour photo of them. XD

I demand to be taught how to take screen shots so I can put up a jaw-dropping, nose-bleeding picture of Shimako. *drools*

Dream Vacay

Now that I’ve been to Thailand last summer, my dream vacation is to go to Japan. Not JUST go to Japan, but actually do something WORTHWHILE. Like, maybe, meet a celeb? ;) Haha. Yeah. It’s called a dream for a reason.

But ever since I’ve heard all these people going/who went to Japan, I’ve just been craving to go. And I was promised Thailand many years ago, and I finally got it; on the other hand, Japan was promised two years back…so it’s probably gunna happen in the near, distant future.
