Murder Princess (OVA)

Synopsis: In the land of Foreland a coup d’état has occurred and the princess, after witnessing the death of the King, is on the run. She meets with battle-hungry bounty hunter Falis, and with a twist of fate they both switch souls, making Alita the maid of the now princess Falis. Named for her bravery in confronting the enemy as ‘Murder Princess’, Falis must continue to be the princess as well as confronting any new opponent that comes to her way. -Source ANN

I first picked up Murder Princess after browsing around AAN and Wiki seiyuu profiles. After my recent Fullmetal Alchemist phase, I wanted to watch more stuff from Paku Romi, aside from Kaiba and Ultraviolet: Code 044, which hasn’t finished subbing yet. I watched the first ep, and although it wasn’t much, I really loved to hear Romi’s voice, and Koshimizu Ami’s. (I still can’t see the seiyuu connection between Paraietta (Simoun), Horo (Wolf and Spice), and now Mirano/Arita-hime.)

When I heard Toyoguchi Megumi’s voice in the first ep, my heart fluttered and went, “OMG it’s an FMA recast with Ami instead of KugiRie!” The voice she used to play Seshiria had such a Revy tone to it, I had to keep watching. I thought, “Hey, since it’s only six episodes long, might as well watch it.” And I’m glad I did.

Farisu (Romi) and Arita switch bodies, which occurs in a near-death situation.

Farisu, now the usurping “Murder Princess” of Foreland.

Arita promised her body and soul to Farisu if she agreed to protect her country of Forland. Farisu only saw the benefits of a large reward she would receive as a bounty hunter, but instead, I saw a sparking relationship between the two.

One day, you’re born as a princess, next thing you know, you’ve switched bodies with a bounty hunter and you’ve become a maid. If that can’t get worse, you see your that your innocent body is nekkid and exposed.

Ahhh…it’s been a while since I last had a bubble bath, Hime-sama.

And the Murder Princess saves her maid. Imagine that, instead of a knight in shining armor, you get a princess with a katana.

Seshiria, the evil sorceress. There are actually nicer screen caps of her. I just chose to put this one up.

I love Megumi’s deep voice. Her villainous voice as Seshiria only reminds me that there is a season three of Black Lagoon planned. In terms of my favourite Megumi characters, Sei-sama from Maria-sama ga Miteru and Revy from Black Lagoon cannot be topped.

For all fantasy lovers with girls kicking ass instead of the stereotypical male heroes, this is for you. The only thing that I didn’t like about this OVA series was that the transition for the real Princess Arita to adapt to a maid’s life. Although she may have shared a close relationship with her maid, I doubt that anyone with strict training in royalty life is able to carry out a maid’s role perfectly, while watching your self act totally out of conduct. If I were a princess, I would’ve been totally bothered to find my self sleeping naked and so manly like on a bed I’ve been sleeping in since I was born. But that’s my own opinion – the fact that Arita can adapt to the life of Mirano so easily. I like to put screen cap spoilers, so here’s the thumbnails for the last episode.

I’m new to blogging about anime, so please forgive me for my tardiness. I will hopefully improve along the way, but don’t expect much from me. :P
